12.15.09 **Snap!’s Year End Spectacular!** Hey everyone! We hope you had a great year – we here at Snap! sure did. We’ve got some great new works from our amazing writers to help take away the winter blues. During this time of celebration and feasting we start off with a feast of horror from Mick Shasta. One of Snap!’s celebrity writers, Christine Utz returns with a fishy new story about release and catch. We are featuring two new works from poet and visual artist Joanna Elizabeth Ring – one about pain, the other about delight. Melodie Cobb ponders what’s in a name, Meghan Garcia questions the meaning of life, and resident editor (gratuitous) Michael Chmielewski ponders art. We are also introducing four new writers to join the ranks of Snap! Heather Chicoine offers a triad of love, Lindsay McGee knows what’s true, Christina Rentschler discovers the antagonist, and Richard Calalang cures insomnia. This edition’s newest addition to the visual art project is Travis Flack with his piece titled “the things I wish I had said a long time ago and now am making up for it.” We really think this collection is a great way to end this year in a memorable way. We have also made some changes you may notice as you navigate the site. Our archives section has been taken down to help with the slow loading problems we have had with the site. Also, our submission guidelines will be changing with the new year, so be on the lookout for an update from us when we have made the change. If you have any questions or concerns about the changes, please contact us and we will address any issues you may have. Everyone here at Snap! wishes all of you the best holiday season and new year. We look forward to keeping in touch with our favorite writers, as well as some new ones, and as we always say - Spread the word and we'll spread yours! Happy holidays everyone! 10.15.09 **Fall Into Snap!** Hey everyone! Guess what? Snap! is back with a new update. Summer is over and pretty soon, sweater weather will be the talk of the town. We know a lot of our readers have had their share of premature winter already, so we hope we can help cure your cabin fever with a great bunch of stories from some familiar and new writers. In this edition we are featuring a wonderful up-and-coming writer, Jill Okpalugo-Nwajiaku, who spins a tale of a spinster swindled out of love by her past. Another new scribe to our journal is Ishmael Sessions who foresees an "Unforseen Conditions." Noemi Minaya-Mendez returns to Snap! saying "Farewell to Death" while contemplating life. Heather Strange knows martians while Erin Keller doesn't know what she knows (or doesn't know, for that matter). Joanna Elizabeth Ring has a "Bad Day," Gabrielle DeCristofaro wonders why people act the way they do and Elizabeth Campbell sips coffee while waiting for Godot. We've also posted a few new pieces for our virtual art gallery in our visual art project - the new pieces are from graphic artist Allison Callahan and writer Joanna Elizabeth Ring. Don't forget, in two months Snap! will be having our end-of-the year update. We are trying to put together the best works from our writers to celebrate the end of a very long, tumultuous and otherwise confusing year so finish what you're writing and send it to us! Spread the word and we'll spread yours. 08.15.09 **Say Goodbye To Summer** The summer heat sure isn’t gone, but the fun almost is. Most of our readers and writers are getting ready to go back to school, but we are updating Snap! for one last summer fling. Come snuggle with us before we say goodbye to the beach and hello to our text books. In this edition, Snap! brings back a couple of friends. Michael Creighton rants, raves, and pushes things forward while T. Rorstrom is left with “Life on Hold.” Greg Johnson returns with another open ended letter, will he ever be answered? Newcomers Nicholas Siebels and Meghan Garcia study the nature of consciousness, while April Barclay discovers love and Melodie Cobb tries to find it in Winchester. We also have a few new additions to our virtual art gallery. The ever-amazing Courtney Barriger graces our gallery with the first painting added to the collection and our own Michael Chmielewski adds another sketch for your viewing pleasure. We hope you continue to enjoy Snap! and look forward to our next update as school will be in session and we will have plenty of new works for you to read. Don’t forget, we accept submissions year round and are always looking for the most creative and unique works we can find. Continue writing and we’ll continue publishing! 06.15.09 Summer is well on it's way and days of unbearable heat end with nights of quiet reading under the stars. So while you may have been reading your favorite new author, or just one of those smutty beach novels hidden behind a gossip rag, we've been reading some exciting work from our new contributors. We kick off the update and get down to business with Greg Johnson. Gabrielle DeCristofaro reminds us of what we always say and Amanda Monaghan paints a picture of a father. We break ways with our normal attraction for flash fiction and find out about Kris Knapp's "The White House." Mick Shasta dreams, Heather Strange realizes, and Michael Penuliar just is. We round out this update of Snap! with some questions from Britney Boussard, Lindsay Singletary discovers beauty, and Jhourdan Nash hear voices. We have also started our art collection in our Visual Art Project. The images in this section will update more frequently than our journal, so check back as often as you can. We've received a few really good pieces of art and hope to grow our collection. Thank you to all of our contributors in this update. You are what helps keep the spirit of Snap! alive. Continue writing and submitting your workk to us. Our next update will be in August and we hope to have some more great summer reading. 04.15.09 *** ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY *** Welcome everyone to Snap!’s first anniversary celebration! Rorstrom, Courtney Barriger, Stacey Longhofer, and David Roman) also return with new works to make our one-year anniversary the best update we’ve ever had. Within the pages of Snap! you may notice some artwork. Snap! wants to broaden the visual perspective of its readers. So, if you are an accomplished artist, work-time doodler, or you just like to drag a crayon across paper – we want to see your artwork. Snap! thanks you for your support and hopes you keep coming back. Spread the word and we’ll spread yours! 03.30.09 Greetings everyone! No, you aren't dreaming, you really are hearing from Snap! 2 times in the same month. We just wanted to drop a line to keep everyone informed about the comings and goings of Snap! and some changes we are undergoing. Due to unforeseeable actions, we have changed our URL. So, if you are still looking for us at www.snapjournal.org, scratching your head, and wondering where the heck we are - you are not alone. The new URL for Snap! is: www.snapjournalonline.com. We are still currently re-designing the site for our upcoming 1 year anniversary, so any bugs you may find on the current site, we're aware of - but we still like to hear from you if you spot something we may have missed. Also, we have received a bunch of great submissions for our Anniversary issue, but we are still looking for more. We really want our 1st birthday to be as great as we know it can be. Continue sending in submissions (even if you've already written us), and get your friends to send us their work as well. 03.11.09 Greetings from Snap! online literary journal You may have noticed recently that Snap! is not available. Do not panic! Snap! is undergoing some cosmetic surgery in preparation for our 1 year anniversary! This weekend March 13-15, the old Snap! will be back up with an update on excatly what we are doing - but since you have all become faithful contributors, patrons, and friends of Snap! we'll give you the low-down right now. Originally, we had planned to release our regular bi-monthly update of Snap! on March 15, 2009. We here at Snap! talked about it and decided to wait another month so that we can release the biggest and best update we have ever done. This gives some of our favorite writers (as well as newcomers) some extra time to submit their best works. It also gives us more time here to redesign Snap! and continue the tradition that started a little over a year ago. Thank you all so much for your support and praise of our online literary journal. Continue to spread the word about Snap! and submit your works to us. We look forward to hearing from each and every one of you as Snap! heads towards year number 2! 01.15.09 Happy New Year everyone and welcome to Snap!'s 5th edition!
